Sea Turtle Protection

Since 2007 the Fundación Alianza Caribe in collaboration with the Panama Turtle Protection Group have been active along the entire Caribbean Coast of Panama between the Province of Bocas del Toro and the San Blas to protect the nesting ground of endangered sea turtle species from local poachers. We have hired local beach rangers to protect the most important nesting ground during the turtle season, which on the Caribbean coast starts from early March to the end of May. We have also cleaned the beaches, removed garbage and drift wood, that might obstruct the turtles to reach higher grounds to lay their eggs.
