“Education is a critical part of saving the world’s rainforests.”

Conserve the Rainforest Education Program

Due to unemployment, poverty and a lack of alternatives most people living in remote nature rich areas are forced to practices of deforestation and illegal wildlife hunting in order to make a living for themselves and their families. With new infrastructure and improved access also originate new opportunities and jobs in the field of eco-tourism.
Therefore, the Fundación Alianza Caribe is currently preparing a new education initiative in the Costa Abajo of Colón and the Costa Caribe of Veraguas to explain local people and their children the importance of a balanced eco system and the negative consequences of deforestation and wildlife hunting. We also explain the importance of nature and wildlife for a successful and sustainable eco-tourism development and how eco-tourism can be an alternative source of income for everybody.
